The Power of a Wish From New York City

Those who think wishes don’t come true simply do not understand the amazing things that can happen when we come together with love and compassion in our hearts. The Make-a-Wish foundation has been allowing people to do this for decades. They allow children with only a short and precious amount of time on this earth to experience their dreams in life manifest out of the kindness of others. Jake Nosler is one such sixteen year old who is living the most out of the life that was nearly taken from him. The Make-a-Wish foundation has gathered around Jake and his family to make a dream come true.

Jake is a fan of Major League Baseball, and in particular, he loves the New York Yankees. In order to give him the experience of a lifetime, Jake is going to become a “Yankee for a Day.” He and his family will be receiving an all expenses paid trip to New York City where he will ride in a limousine to the city’s most revered landmarks, get a private tour of Yankee stadium, and meet a few of his favorite Yankee players. Jake himself has not had an easy time battling his disease up until now, making this trip one that he inherently deserves and has certainly earned.

Recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, Jake has undergone two surgeries and suffered four strokes. He received treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. After nearly a year had passed since the surgeries, Jake is still undergoing physical therapy but is making good progress. While in recovery at an Arkansas treatment center, he was informed that his wish was being granted.

Jake has a deep love for baseball and the fact that he had to miss so many games during his recovery was virtually his only complaint. Jake found the news shocking and was amazed that people cared so much. Jake qualified for the foundation because he was suffering from a life-threatening condition. Many people believe that this foundation is only for children with terminal conditions, however, it is the foundation’s mission to also encourage those children that have survived near death to go on to make a full recovery and live a successful and happy life.
