How can I make sure I’m hiring the right plumber?
Questions You Should Ask A Plumber Before Hiring One
Choosing a trustworthy plumber can often be a difficult task; especially if it involves an emergency plumbing situation. It can be even more challenging if you’re not sure what to look for. To make the process easier our company has a short list of pertinent questions you should ask before you hire any type of plumbing company. It’s also a mantra that we live by:
#1 – Do you have a valid license? This is one of the most important questions.
#2 – Do you currently have and can you provide proof of the appropriate liability insurance?
#3 – Can you provide a completely detailed estimate of the work to be done, signed and put in writing, so there won’t be any surprises later on?
#4 – Can you provide a short list of references of satisfied customers we can contact in case we want to check the veracity of your work?
#5 – Will your company be able to provide any type of guarantee or warranties other than the plumbing materials used and labor provided?
#6 – How do you price your costs for work done? We have heard that some plumbing companies will charge on a flat-rate, per job basis, while others will charge parts and labor based on an hourly basis. Note: price is very important but a company, who says they will do the job on the cheap, may not be the best approach.
#7 – What about emergency plumbing rates? Customers need to know the cost where the plumbing company has to rush a plumber out to the job site late evening, on a weekend, or a holiday.
