How can I make sure I’m hiring the right plumber?
Questions You Should Ask A Plumber Before Hiring One
The profession of becoming a plumber is one not hastily chosen. Not many are willing to make the total commitment to spend hours and days on end with their only companion being showers, toilets, plugged up drains and sewer conundrums. Fortunately for our long time customers and new customers, we are that type of plumbing company. That said we are more than willing to take time to answer plumbing questions prior to any work being done.
Choosing a trustworthy plumber can often be a difficult task; especially if it involves an emergency plumbing situation. It can be even more challenging if you’re not sure what to look for. To make the process easier our company has a short list of pertinent questions you should ask before you hire any type of plumbing company. It’s also a mantra that we live by:
#1 – Do you have a valid license? This is one of the most important questions.
#2 – Do you currently have and can you provide proof of the appropriate liability insurance?
#3 – Can you provide a completely detailed estimate of the work to be done, signed and put in writing, so there won’t be any surprises later on?
#4 – Can you provide a short list of references of satisfied customers we can contact in case we want to check the veracity of your work?
#5 – Will your company be able to provide any type of guarantee or warranties other than the plumbing materials used and labor provided?
#6 – How do you price your costs for work done? We have heard that some plumbing companies will charge on a flat-rate, per job basis, while others will charge parts and labor based on an hourly basis. Note: price is very important but a company, who says they will do the job on the cheap, may not be the best approach.
#7 – What about emergency plumbing rates? Customers need to know the cost where the plumbing company has to rush a plumber out to the job site late evening, on a weekend, or a holiday.
