Dyker Heights Boiler Services
Boiler maintenance is an important part of keeping the average home heated properly. Problems with the boiler system are often expensive to repair if they are let go for too long. Our professional knowledge of boiler systems can help homeowners keep their boilers maintained for years to come.
What is a Boiler?
A boiler is a container which provides heat to water or another liquid. This heat does not necessarily mean that the liquid inside boils, but often as a result of the heating action steam is produced. The heated water or liquid is then dispensed from the boiler to be used in applications such as cooking or heating the surrounding building.
Does My Boiler Require Maintenance?
It is important for homeowners to have their boilers maintained by professionals on a regular basis, so that it lasts as long as possible and does not cause problems. At a minimum, we recommend that service be performed on boilers once a year. This service will allow for our technicians to inspect the boiler and see if there are any small leaks or parts that are worn and need to be replaced. But there are other circumstances that may require us to come maintain the boiler. Homeowners who are experiencing a loss of hot water, either because the water does not get as hot as it should, or because the water cools sooner than it should, should consider calling us for service to their boilers. It may also be the case that the home does not feel as warm as it should when the heat is on. This will be most noticeable during the colder months of the year, and it is another sign that the boiler needs to be maintained.
Additional indicators that the boiler is not functioning properly include noises and blockages. If the boiler is polluting the water used for heating or cooking, this is another sign that we should be contacted. Homeowners who notice their heating bills have increased unexpectedly should also be aware that this can mean the boiler is not running at top performance.
Some of the things that we check for when we service a boiler include checking the water levels to be sure they are adequate, and the combustion mechanism to make sure it is still in working order. Pressure and temperature of various components of the boiler need to be assessed, as well. If we find that a boiler is on the verge of breaking down, we are able to install a new one.
What Size Boiler Do I Need?
We can offer recommendations on the size of the boiler that is required for any homeowner. Two factors include the size of the home and the climate it is in. This also depends on the age of the home and the quality of its insulation.
